Knut is equipped with a microSD card slot, to enable you to use Knut outside of Wi-Fi range or under high frequency sampling conditions. We leave the acquisition of a microSD card to you. The card must be FAT32 formatted before using with Knut, and have 512MB or greater capacity.
acquisition of a microSD card to you. The card must be FAT32 formatted before using with Knut, and have 512MB or greater capacity. The microSD card slot is spring-loaded, so the cards ‘pop’ in and out like the card readers on many laptops. When properly installed, the microSD card will be recessed from the surface of Knut. This protects both the card and Knut during ordinary use. To remove the card, use a narrow object (eg your thumbnail or a coin) to bounce the card out of the slot. NEVER remove the cover from Knut when the microSD card is installed! This will destroy the microSD card reader and likely other parts of Knut as well.
Considerations when using a microSD card with Knut
- MicroSD cards of 512MB or greater capacity are compatible
- MicroSD cards must be FAT32 formatted before using with Knut
- When Knut recognizes the presence of a microSD card, it will store data on the microSD card whenever WiFi data transmission fails–for example if Knut is away from your WiFi network, or your building loses power.
